Pierre Poilievre keeps saying “Everything is Broken (in Canada).”
Here’s a “No it’s not!” musical response. Once you hear this ear worm, there’ll only be one way to purge it from your brain….to make your way into the voting booth. FYI, I voted on April 9, But I’ve still got this tune in my brain. Play at your own risk
With Canada's future on the line, and inspired by the Rockies, I had to write a song for this moment. Out came WE Ain't Broken, an answer to the incessant divisive and negative messaging of Pierre Poilievre. I scratched the fabric of the tune while at Kicking Horse, BC, and the Canmore Nordic Centre. Soon after, I rushed back into the studio in Ottawa, and across the river in Wakefield, Quebec to record. April 9, 2025 here is the initial version above.
Should you enjoy this pivotal election song, maybe you'll get in the mood to help oust Mr. Poilievre from Parliament? I will direct 100% of ALL download proceeds to Liberal Candidate Bruce Fanjoy's campaign. Bruce is running directly against Mr. Poilievre, and with your help, we might just manufacture an upset like we've never seen before in Carleton. This time. There's only one choice. Let's everyone in Carleton Riding, and across Canada, unite. Let's show Mr. Poilievre that Canada is better than that. Video coming soon.
If it's not already abundantly clear, here's what inspired this NEW music:
“Everything is Broken!”. Sound familiar? A) Turns out, Pierre Poilievre, is completely parroting the MAGA playbook.
Let me repeat that. Sound familiar? B) Yup! Pierre Poilievre, is parroting the MAGA blueprint. Does that make him a puppet? I was so aghast that I had to write a song about it. Here is "We Ain't Broken", recorded live at The Canmore Nordic Centre on April 1, 2025, (April Fools Day). The day before Trump's new tariffs were imposed.
“Everything is Broken”…Only a Fool would say that (credit Steely Dan), or…
How about “YES WE CANADA”
In Canada's Existential Election, We ALL must be wary & well informed

Globe and Mail: New book on Pierre Poilievre is called Ripper: He’s ‘an angry teenager in the body of a grown man’
O Canada and beaver perfume: Joyce Wieland's art embodied the heart of Canadian pride (this is a 50 minute listen on CBC Ideas, first aired on Sep 13, 2022. Hope you are moved, like I was)
Think of the parental psychology of raising your child in a climate of negative slogans and fear. Over the last decade, that's identical to what we just watched unfold in the USA. This is NOT the message to be sending to our children, our grandchildren, our new, and visiting Canadian's, or this nation. Negative messaging is the essence of a war-like grievance ideology. Young people are confused, some are angry, and many vulnerable to these negative messages. The psychology of, and the Mental Health of a Nation, is vitally important to the foundation of children, and of nations. Positivity builds a better future for all.
